Daughter For The Day, Inc.

My Profile

My name is Tonja Lark and I am the Founder and CEO of  Daughter For The Day, Inc. a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization who sole purpose is to assist senior citizens by providing them with free, one-on-one personal assistance.

The idea for Daughter For The Day, Inc. (DFTD) originated out of the special relationship that I had with my grandmother (NANA).  We both treasured the times that we spent together.  I would take her to doctor appointments, monitor her grocery shopping or just making our daily stop at her favorite department store "Garfinckels".  I not only gave her a helping hand when she needed it, but I also gave her companionship and lots of love.  She always looked forward to our outings and we both enjoyed being “girlfriends” for the day. Nana would always mention her favorite part of our day was stopping by McDonalds for an ice cream cone on the way home. These moments with my “Nana” gave me a special appreciation for senior citizens, and it gave me some insight on how difficult completing daily task can be, especially as you get older.  I also became aware that many seniors are on a fixed income and can hardly afford to pay for medications, less-more transportation.  That’s why I decided to start an organization where a daughter or son would not only take the senior where they needed to go, but stayed with them and helped them every step of the way.  I thought it would be wonderful if I could put a smile on other seniors’ faces the way I did with my Nana, by providing them with their own personal daughter or son to assist them with their daily outings. We are really striving hard to make a difference in our community for all senior citizens

Text Box: My Nana
Daughter For The Day, Inc. is my way of honoring my dear Nana, and each time our organization is able to play a special role in the life of a senior citizen, I’d like to think my Nana would be very happy and proud of this special tribute to her.
